"Padovani gran dottori," goes a popular saying referring to the ancient and prestigious Padua’s University. It was in Padua that the world's first woman, Elena Cornaro Piscopia, graduated in 1678. Also in the city was founded the first world's permanent anatomical theater, as well as the oldest botanical garden. It was here that Galileo made some of his revolutionary discoveries and Vincenzo Gallucci performed the first heart transplant in Italy (November 14, 1985). Therefore, Padua is considered a city of science. The below proposed itinerary contains the main Padua landmarks dedicated to science in different disciplines, from astronomy to geography, from medicine to entomology.
