Clay and thermal water: from nature two allies at the service of health and beauty
The mud used in our Thermal Spas is imbued with the ancient history of the beautiful Euganean Hills whose clay, taken from the seabed of the centuries-old lakes of Arquà and Lispida, is transported to our Spa and put in contact with the thermal water.
The thermal water from our private springs boasts a temperature of about 86°C and belongs to the category of hyperthermal salty-bromine-iodic waters. It is of meteoric origin and comes from the basins of the Lessini Mountains in the Prealps. It is considered unique thanks to the long route it travels to reach the Euganean Hills; this journey of about 25 to 30 years over limestone rock, at depths exceeding 2000 meters underground, allows the water to get enriched with heat and precious mineral salts.
Clay and thermal water are mixed in our maturation pools for a period of at least two months and so the transformation of clay into mature mud takes place thanks to the growth of a vegetable component, constituted by particular families of thermophilic algae and cyanobacteria. These algae process a large quantity of substances with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action that are absorbed by the body during the treatment.
The Mature Mud of GB Thermae Hotels contains, in particular, a family of cyanobacteria called Phormidium belonging to the ETS05 strain which is produced exclusively in our maturation pools. The anti-inflammatory action was tested and checked by the University of Padua and recently patented at the European level.
It was demonstrated that a cycle of mud-balneotherapy sessions leads to considerable improvement in body mobility, reduced osteoarticular rigidity and a slowdown of joint cartilage degeneration. In addition, it reduces chronic painful symptoms and inflammatory recurrences for 6-12 months, thus decreasing the consumption of painkillers and improving quality of life.
